Transformation

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

The Greek word for transformed is μεταμορφόω (metamorphoō)—the root of our English word metamorphosis—which means to change into another form, to transform, or to transfigure.

The Greek word used for renewing in Romans 12:2 is ἀνακαίνωσις (anakainōsis), meaning a renewal, renovation, or complete change for the better.

In other words, the renovation of the mind is what produces true transformation of the heart (thoughts, behaviors, habits, and character)—think of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly!

Hebrews 4:12 tells us: “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

God’s Word is the primary tool necessary for the renovation process of our minds and hearts. His Word acts as a carpenter’s knife in the hands of the loving Master Carpenter – Jesus - that cuts through the misconceptions, faulty thinking, and sin we have believed and embraced – misconceptions about Who God is, who we are in Him, and how He views us. The Word of God separates what is of the Spirit (truth) from what is simply of the flesh (misconceptions), revealing and testing the thoughts and intents of our heart giving us the opportunity to replace faulty thoughts and beliefs with Truth…a renovation of the mind.

It is by His Word through the power of the Holy Spirit we are transformed! The Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) and if we are in Christ, the Word is in us (Rom. 10:8). The Word cleanses us (Eph. 5:26-27), sanctifies us (John 17:17), keeps us from sin (Psalm 119:9), directs us (Psalm 119:105), delivers us from destruction (Psalm 107:20), revives us (Psalm 119:25), tests us (Psalm 105:19; Heb. 4:12), and gives us life (Psalm 119:50)!

As we renovate our minds through the washing of the water by the Word, we are changed from one form to another (metamorphosis)—we are transformed into the image of the One Who is the Word -- the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1; Rev. 19:13)!

A Biblical Approach to Coaching

What Sets Us Apart?

At Renovated Hearts, we go beyond surface-level coaching to provide women with a compassionate safe place to pursue deep transformation. We offer a Bible-based, Christ-centered approach to exploring the multifaceted journey of the heart—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Through the living and active Word of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we help women find healing from past wounds, discover encouragement for the present, and acquire hope for the future. Our approach guides each woman to know who God is according to His Word, to understand her identity in Christ Jesus, and to see herself as God sees her—His beloved daughter—so she can flourish in a life rooted in Him.

Renovated Hearts Coaching

Renovated Hearts is not a counseling service, but rather a coaching service that provides an opportunity to explore a biblical approach to transformation through pursuing God’s heart, addressing barriers, and setting goals to help facilitate healing and wholeness through the One Who makes everything beautiful in its time (Ecc. 3:11). Renovated Hearts offers a Christ-centered coaching relationship that mediates God’s lovingkindness, grace, hope, and truth—guiding and equipping women to live whole, purposeful, and flourishing lives.

Board Certified Coaches

Renovated Hearts coaches are not licensed counselors. Instead, they are board certified mental health coaches whose expertise is to equip women with the tools to:

  • Recognize and establish their identity in Christ through the Word of God, growing in the knowledge of Who He is, who they are in Him, and how He views them—by pursuing the One who is Himself the Word (John 1:1).
  • Identify strengths, transform limiting beliefs and faulty heart paradigms, and develop habits that foster a solution-based approach to victorious, flourishing life—through the One who completes the good work He began in us (Philippians 1:6).
  • Embrace and grow in the freedom, healing, and restoration that is theirs in Christ (Is. 61:1-4), the great Shepherd, One Who restores their soul (Psalm 23:3).

Specializations

At Renovated Hearts, you will be supported by a trauma-informed mental health coach with a specialized focus in grief and loss. This means your story is approached with sensitivity, wisdom, and deep respect for how loss—whether sudden, prolonged, or layered—impacts the heart, mind, and nervous system. Grief is not rushed, minimized, or “fixed.” Instead, we create a safe space where God’s grace is mediated to gently process pain, understand trauma responses, and restore emotional steadiness, allowing healing to unfold at a pace that facilitates comfort, healing and restoration.

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself. "

C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity, Book IV, Chapter 9 (“Counting the Cost”)

Meet the Coach

Rachelle Crawford, BC-MHC

Growing up in the Midwest in a loving, church-going family, I knew about Jesus and His sacrifice but hadn’t truly surrendered my life to Him. I believed being “good” was the key to heaven. After early childhood trauma left me battling fear, anxiety, shame, and feelings of worthlessness, I spent my teen years turning to alcohol to numb my anxiety and fear, discovering that being the life of the party earned me the validation I craved.

During my freshman year at a Big Ten college, I encountered Christian campus ministers who challenged students to read the Bible, repent, and serve Jesus Christ. Convicted and drawn to God’s Word, I surrendered my life to Jesus. Surrounded by a supportive and vibrant community of believers, I found healing and restoration through the Word of God—breaking free from the strongholds of shame, anxiety, fear, and depression.

My passion as a trauma‑informed, board‑certified mental health coach is to guide women into that same freedom and victory in Christ—helping them discover who He is according to His Word, understand their true identity in Him, and experience heart‑renovation and victorious living through the power of the Holy Spirit mediating God’s love, mercy, grace, and truth.

Married to my college sweetheart, we are parents to two adult children who are the great joys of our lives. I treasure time with my family, enjoy long nature walks, love studying God’s Word, enjoy traveling and cherish making memories with my husband, children, and extended family.
